The Notorious B.I.G.'s 1997 Pepsi Freestyle Receives a Remaster
The Brooklyn legend will be inducted into this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Notorious B.I.G.‘s on-air HOT97 freestyle from 1997 has received a remaster courtesy of Pepsi, Cey Adams and DJ Enuff.
The freestyle essentially hears Biggie Smalls rap about his love for Pepsi, announcing that he buys the drink by the case and that he keeps a three-liter for his crew. It also arrives with an accompanying animated visual from Antnamation that features a number of iconic and memorable storylines from the late rapper’s life, including scenes in front of 226 St. James Place — his childhood home —the intersection of St. James Place and Fulton, which is now known as Christopher Wallace Way and a dish comprised of a T-Bone steak, cheese and eggs as heard in “Big Poppa.”
Biggie will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 alongside Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Whitney Houston, the Doobie Brothers and T. Rex, plus executives Jon Landau and Irving Azoff. The ceremony was originally set to take place in May but has been postponed to November 8 due to COVID-19.
