Public School Honors New York City With New Balance 327 Collaboration
“We Need Leaders.”
Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow‘s Public School has teased an NYC-centric collaboration with New Balance, reworking its 327 sneaker with the phrase “We Need Leaders.”
In terms of design, the 327 adopts a rather laid-back colorway. A blue and green-toned upper references New York City, the Statue of Liberty and the city’s Marathon, and is complete with branding that reads “We Need Leaders” and “All roads lead back to the streets.” Furthermore, an Instagram post uploaded by Public School states that these are the brands’ “voting kicks.”
The same “We Need Leaders” slogan appears alongside the 327 logo on the tongue, while “WNL” has been debossed into the gray suede heel. Suede can be found on the toe and vamp, while the sides are made from the familiar nylon that has helped make the New Balance 327 a popular lightweight retro-inspired sneaker this year. Public School rounds out its pair with a green outsole and a green “N” logo on the lateral mid-panel.
