Tapping into its diving heritage, Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre has now launched a new line of dive watches under its Polaris series, aptly named Polaris Mariner.

At launch, the collection consists of two similar timepieces: the Memovox and the Date. The two are basically identical in construction, boasting 42mm stainless steel cases and bracelets that carry fumé blue dials invoking images of the ocean depths. A seconds track runs along an inner concentric ring, which works in tandem with the inner rotating dive bezel. Three numbered indices sit at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock while the 3 o’clock position is occupied by a clean date window.

The distinguishing factor between the two are the movements they carry: while both are self-winding, the Memovox is equipped with the in-house calibre 956AA, providing the added function of a “school bell” alarm, while the Date model is simply equipped with the calibre 899AB. Both watches are rated to 300 meters of water resistance.

Both the Polaris Mariner Memovox and Date are now available, going for $17,600 USD for the former and $11,000 USD for the latter. Head over to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s website to learn more.

Elsewhere in watches, Blancpain has released a Desert Edition of its famed Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe.
