Instagram Brings Back Its Original Icon for Its 10th-Anniversary
A throwback to the beginning of the social media platform.
Earlier this week, Instagram celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a look back at its beginnings. The social media platform launched an Easter Egg that allows users to recall the original icons that it started with.
The icons can be accessed in the “Settings” menu by swiping down until party-related emojis can be seen and the gift emoji at the top changes. A separate “App Icon” page will then pop up with the message, “To celebrate our birthday, this month we’re inviting you to change your app icon to your favourite below. Thanks for being part of our story and using Instagram to share yours.
Icons found in the Easter Egg include the Original (October 6, 2010) vintage Polaroid camera inspired design, more familiar Classic (October 27, 2010) and Classic (August 31, 2011), and the pre-release “Code Name” icon (2010). Additionally, some variations of the current that play with color and monochrome designs are also available.
