Converse has dropped the Chuck 70 Hi “Nor’Easter” pack which takes inspiration from the map patterns of nor’easter storms.

A nor’easter storm is a macro-scale extratropical cyclone in the western North Atlantic Ocean in which winds blow from the northeast, which is where the storm’s name comes from. A storm map presents waves and metrics, and this information has now been interpreted on three pairs of Converse Chuck 70 Hi sneakers.

Converse presents pairs in “Winter White/Pink Lavender,” “Starlight Blue/Love Potion,” and “Storm Front/Yellow Cream.” The latter is perhaps the most realistic, with its gray, red, orange, and yellow waves on the upper best representing the maps that chart storms.

However, all three pairs have the wave detailed upper on them, splitting the colors in a way that gives each sneaker a very ’70s-esque aesthetic. The “Winter White/Pink Lavender” pair is made from felt, as are the other two, but instead of splitting the colors between contrasting felt panels this pair uses a rubberized overlay instead. The effect is glossy and gives the shoes a one-piece look.

The “Starlight Blue/Love Potion” and “Storm Front/Yellow Cream” colorways do feature a full felt upper, creating a flowing rainbow of color across the sneaker. Each pair is finished with a co-molded outsole that is said to represent Boston in the winter.

Converse’s Chuck 70 Hi “Nor’Easter” pack is currently available at select stockists, such as BSTN, where each pair will cost €99.99 EUR (approx. $118 USD). Take a closer look at the sneakers above.

In other news, Nike has given three sneakers a Christmas-themed makeover.
