TOKiMONSTA and EARTHGANG Spend An Evening on Hallucinogens in "Fried for the Night"
Her next album ‘Oasis Nocturno’ is on the way.
TOKiMONSTA has announced that her fourth studio album Oasis Nocturno will release March 20, 2020 via Young Art Records through a new music video for her single “Fried for the Night” featuring EARTHGANG. The project follows the legendary producer’s GRAMMY Nominated Lune Rouge from 2017 and her debut single “Love That Never” from last month. Both come years after a traumatic diagnosis of Moyamoya disease back in 2015 when TOKiMONSTA, born Jennifer Lee, briefly lost memories and the ability to speak after two major brain surgeries. Since then, she’s recovered with two major releases and is set to play Coachella 2020 later this year.
“Fried for the Night” fittingly enlists the Atlanta rap duo of Olu aka Johnny Venus and WowGr8 aka Doctur Dot to tell the story of a night tripping on heavy hallucinogens while still trying to keep some firm footing in reality. Directed by Romain Laurent with additional creative direction by Danna Takako, the video balances a Los Angeles house party with purple smoke, heavily dilated pupils reworked through CGI and light trails leading to jungle prints and patterns.”I know 2020 come with hindsight/ I know the Black keep endin’ up dyin’/ Now what we gon’ do? Sh*t what we gon’ do? Yeah I live in a loop,” raps Doctur Dot.
