TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist. Nods to 'The Joker' in FW20 Collection
A masterful merge of textiles and graphic accents.
TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist. continues to masterfully merge textiles and graphic accents across a slew of technical ensembles for Fall/Winter 2020. Shown during Paris Fashion Week, the collection takes inspiration from Charlie Chaplin’s film Modern Times alongside nods to The Joker and the work of Japanese artist Kosuke Ichikawa. Standout pieces include long puffer coats with sport-coat lapels in contrasting tones, black sweaters with chainlink armatures, and shorts embellished with poetic text and blurred portraits.
The Japanese designer also sheds light on his mental health across the collection.“In 2003, I was on medication and I have no memories of that year, not of what I designed, or how the show was produced. I skipped one season that year. I am now piecing that year together from the memories of other people,” Miyashita said to BOF.
