Soccer Mommy Announces New Album 'color theory'
Accompanied by a new single, “circle the drain.”
Soccer Mommy (real name Sophie Allison) has announced a new album titled color theory. Billed as the followup to 2018’s Clean, the LP is composed of 10 tracks that were written by the 22-year-old while on tour and recorded in Nashville with her touring band.
“I wanted the experience of listening to color theory to feel like finding a dusty old cassette tape that has become messed up over time, because that’s what this album is: an expression of all the things that have slowly degraded me personally,” Allison said in a statement. “The production warps, the guitar solos occasionally glitch, the melodies can be poppy and deceptively cheerful. To me, it sounds like the music of my childhood distressed and, in some instances, decaying.”
To celebrate the announcement, Soccer Mommy also shared a new single titled “circle the drain” and an accompanying music video. “circle the drain” follows last September’s “lucy” and November’s “yellow is the color of her eyes,” with both predecessors joining color theory.

Elsewhere in music, Mura Masa and Georgia have shared the track “Live Like We’re Dancing” off Raw Youth Collage.
