New Balance Drops M577 & M670 "Year of the Rat" for Lunar New Year
Crafted with delicate pigskin suede.

After just unveiling its M1500 “Year of the Rat”, New Balance has returned with two bold new iterations to join the same pack. This time around, the silhouettes M577 and M670 are featured, utilizing a mix of high-quality pigskin leather for distinctive colorways that celebrate this year’s Chinese zodiac.
First up is the M577, coming in vibrant “Blue/Mauve” uppers. “NEW BALANCE,” “577” and “MADE IN ENGLAND” branding is etched at the top of the tongue, followed by dark blue laces that match the shade of the suede panels around the heel counter and toecap. Contrasting the dark palettes of the shoe, a bright pink panel is placed just under the collars, reflecting the pink hairless areas of a rat, like the inner ears or belly. Below it is a white rubber ENCAP overlay, contrasted by purple sidewalls with a sewn “N” logo to top off the design.
The M670 sees a lighter color scheme, clad in brown tones of dark hazelnut, cream beige and pumpkin amber. Starting at the tongue, “New Balance” is embroidered over a lush suede fabric base, complemented by tonal laces that cover the forefoot. A dark brown “N” logo is stamped at the body, contrasted against the light beige panels that gloss over upper quarter, sidewalls and toebox — an orange-tinted pumpkin palette appears along the toecap. All of these details sit atop a crisp white midsole, equipped with a highly treaded outsole for improved traction.
Both New Balance M577 and M670 “Year of the Rat” colorways are currently available at Foot District’s website for $189 USD and $178, respectively.
In other footwear news, Nike SB Dunk Low Pros have appeared in a “Shadow” colorway.
