Maison Mihara Yasuhiro recent Paris runway showing was all about deconstruction and reassembly. Shown at Palais De Tokyo, the Fall/Winter 2020 collection was the amalgamation of military, workwear, ski wear, and sportswear, all rolled into one. Each piece from the collection was deconstructed indiscriminately and reassembled with the utmost care for a completely new piece of clothing.

The pieces are joined using an original fabric that is able to shrink down to half its normal size due to its weave. This fabric, when blanched with hot water, gives off a textured and “full” look to the material. On top of meshing diverging silhouettes together — bombers with parkas, denim jackets with flannels, collars shirts with track pants — a number of distressed detailed make its way into the collection in the form of frayed edges and bleaching. As with past showings, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro’s signature low-top canvas sneaker makes a return in new colors. Take a look at the dismantled runway looks in the gallery above.
