Paris Couture Week is underway and Maison Margiela has started things off with a bang, teaming with Reebok for a hybrid silhouette that’s a combination of two classics: the Tabi and the Instapump Fury. This dual-headed homage combines Margiela head John Galliano‘s knack for the avant-garde with influential footwear designer Steven Smith‘s most iconic creation, saluting the history of both silhouettes while serving as a statement for a new era — and presenting a vivid look that’s impossible to ignore.

Crafted in both heeled and flat high-top silhouettes, each style presents a high-gloss black calfskin Tabi upper, then quickly encases it in the Instapump Fury’s signature cut-out synthetic cage. These overlays are dressed in recognizable neon and red hues, combining with the black base layer to replicate the Fury’s first-ever colorway — an all-white colorway (an homage to the fashion house’s preferred shade) also hit the runway, as seen below. A Pump fit system is even present on the throat, though this is strictly for aesthetic purposes. The flat boot offers a regular lacing system, while the heeled iteration uses slip-on construction. The Tabi boot’s signature split toe is front and center, completing the top half.

Down below, each style uses red and white hues with DMX cushioning loaded in the heel. The flat-soled version uses a midsole from the Margiela Retro Fit, but inspiration is taken a step further on the heeled boot thanks to a split midsole that’s true to original Instapump Fury styles. The look is completed by co-branded hits, mixing the Reebok vector logo on the heel with a white Margiela touch on the collar.

Release dates and retail prices for this dynamic duo has yet to be announced, or if they will even be produced.
