Lil Baby's "Catch the Sun" Music Video Finds Him at His Most Introspective
The Atlanta rapper channels ‘Queen & Slim’ for an on-the-run love story.
With Queen & Slim arriving at UK theaters earlier today, Motown Records has released the new Lil Baby visual for “Catch the Sun” from the film’s official soundtrack. Scored entirely by Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, the accompanying soundtrack was created to match the vibe of the modern day on-the-run love story.
“I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul, to modern bounce, hip hop and R&B – much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 90s,” stated director Melina Matsoukas to Variety.
The smooth guitar-laden instrumental matches the nostalgic sun-soaked visual as Lil Baby cruise the countryside together. The track also finds the Atlanta superstar at his most introspective. “Seems like I been runnin’ outta time/ Yeah, we still so young and got so much to find/ We can’t never let ‘em break our mind/ We gotta stay strong, conquer and don’t divide/ How come at peace my heart already set on fire?/ If it ain’t color, what’s the difference between you and I?”
