By Walid Stitches Antique Italian Textiles onto Inno Mocassins
Featuring intricate top-stitching.
After dropping its floral coach jacket last week, By Walid has returned with a set of detailed footwear for SS20. The label has repurposed antique Italian textiles, strewn together in a medley of intricate patchwork and embroidery colored in muted caramel tones.
First up is the patchwork Inno Mocassins, accented by contrasting white top-stitching set against brown, gray, black and beige panels, with subtle notes of blue. The mocs come with a low-cut build, bound by thick leather at the upper seams. The same leather materials double as laces, peering out near the collars, while classic off-white crepe soles finish off the piece.
The next pair is the embroidered version of the silhouette. This time instead of patchwork uppers, the uppers come with a textured dark brown cotton fabric, embellished with silk embroidery sourced from a 19th-century Italian tapestry. Golden floral motifs start at the heels and upper collars, working its way over the forefoot to the toecap. Like the aforementioned shoe, rawhide leather are twined through the upper seams and transition as the laces near the collars, completed by a vintage ecru crepe sole.
By Walid’ Inno Mocassins are currently available at MATCHESFASHION’s website for $635 and $749, respectively.
