2 Chainz & Skooly Flex Penchant for Designer Goods in "Virgil Discount" Visual (UPDATE)

UPDATE (January 7, 2020 23:00 EST): Just after announcing T.R.U.’s first-ever collaborative project with a new single titled “Virgil Discount,” frontman 2 Chainz and Skooly have now released the visual for the track. With the song honing in on the crew’s penchant for designer goods, the video is shot in a runway-like manner — as Tity Boi and Skooly prance around wearing Off-White™ and Louis Vuitton, the two are bombarded by a plethora of models.

“It adjusts the mood on your face,” 2 Chainz shared about the new single via press release. “It’s got the grit and the Atlanta sound I like to talk about. It’s a heavy one with a lot of power.” He also spoke on the collaborative efforts project:

I treat the record label as a school with various levels. That’s why we refer to it as The Real University.’It’s a course you go through. Ever since my mixtape days, I’ve used the acronym T.R.U. It was a school of thought I put in place. It was all about me practicing what I preach, getting comfortable in my own skin, going through ups and downs, and moving forward. Atlantic gave me the opportunity to share my vision. I’ve done so much music, and I’ve been successful. I’d like to pass those lessons to the youth. I’m concentrated on the future, making someone else’s dreams come true and giving them some rich people problems.

ORIGINAL STORY (January 7, 2020 1:20 EST): If there’s one trend that is setting the stage for hip-hop this year, it’s a newfound emphasis on crews. Following last year’s Dreamville compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III, OTF’s Family Over Everything, and the recently released JACKBOYS compilation from Cactus Jack, the latest to join in on the fun is 2 Chainz and his T.R.U. squad.

The famed Atlanta rapper began teasing new material last Friday, dropping off his hard-hitting “Falcons Hawks Braves,” leaving many fans curious as to whether or not a new project was on the horizon. Now Tity Boi has officiated his return, announcing a new album titled NO FACE NO CASE, a collaborative effort with his T.R.U. entourage Skooly, Worl, Sleepy Rose, and Hott Locked N. To commemorate the announcement, the crew has dropped off a menacing new single titled “Virgil Discount.”

Featuring 2 Chainz, Skooly, and further produced by June The Genius, the flute-heavy track calls back to Future’s “Mask Off,” employing a melodious flute sample that’s vividly contrasted by banging 808s throughout. As is expected, Tity shares his penchant for designer goods — he raps about gaining money and expensive sports cars, further flexing his ability to score a “Virgil Discount.” Skooly follows this with an equally riotous verse, steeping his lyricism in similar motifs.
