Stormzy References Debut Album In New Single "Sounds of the Skeng"
Is this signaling a release date for his upcoming project?
Stormzy has released a new single called “Sounds of the Skeng,” the third track from British rapper’s upcoming project following the release of “Vossi Bop” and “Crown.” The Sir Spyro-produced single pays homage to the 1965-musical classic The Sound of Music, but actually references the Croydon MC’s 2017 track “Mr. Skeng” from his debut protect Gang Signs & Prayers.
In the fast-paced track, the rapper spits “Five whole years on the circuit/ Every single year I merk it/ Every single year/ I switch flows, they jerk it/ I flip more, then reverse it/ Told bro reimburse it, I just hope that it’s worth it.” Although his sophomore album is in the works, it currently has no release date.
However, this marks Stormzy and Sir Spyro’s second collaboration, with the first being a recent remix of Stormzy and Ed Sheeran’s “Take Me Back To London.”
