Parley for the Oceans & American Express Launch New Green Cards
Made primarily from reclaimed plastics.

As the push for sustainability and climate change keeps growing, Parley for the Oceans and American Express have teamed up to launch the all-new Green Card made primarily from reclaimed plastics collected from beaches, islands, and coastal communities.
Along with launching the new card, the duo have kicked-off a social media-driven call to action, aimed in eliminating marine plastic pollution. For every comment Parley for the Oceans and AmEx get on their respective Instagram page with the #BackOurOceans hashtag, the companies will remove 2 pounds of plastic from shorelines, beaches and coasts. They both aim to remove up to 1 million pounds altogether. AmEx will also tell a “a scroll-stopping, disruptive visual story” on Instagram to help raise awareness of the issue.
Look for the redesigned consumer and corporate Green Cards to arrive later this year. AmEx will also start up a card recycling program in 2020 where members can send back their expired or non-working cards so that they are properly recycled. Additionally the finance company will donate around $2 million USD in grants for educational programming and ocean and river clean ups.
