Lana Del Rey Sings Heartfelt Tribute Addressing Mass Shootings in "Looking for America"
Paying respect to those who were killed in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio last weekend.

Lana Del Rey has debuted “Looking for America,” a new single that was written following last weekend’s mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and the Oregon District of Dayton, Ohio.
“Looking for America” follows the announcement of the upcoming album Normal Fucking Rockwell, which is expected to release on August 30. It comes after three other track releases, “Sylvia Plath,” “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but i have it,” and “Venice B!tch,” which are each expected to feature on the musician’s first album since 2017’s Lust for Life.
Lana announced via Instagram that she enlisted Jack Antonoff for “Looking for America” — who helped produce “hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but i have it” — just after she and her brother came back from Montecito. Lyrics such as “No bombs in the sky / Only fireworks when you and I collide / Just a dream I let it lie” reference Lana’s further comments in her Instagram post, which said, “Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be, so excuse me for having an opinion, but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level, I just wanted to post this video that our engineer Laura took 20 minutes ago. I hope you like it.”
