Last June, the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts announced a momentous exhibition curated by Pharrell Williams at its Parisian outpost. Entitled “Carte blanche to Mr. and Pharrell Williams: A Call To Action,” the newly-launched presentation features original artworks by Japanese artist Mr. spanning paintings, sculptures, and installations.
Set against a tent-like infrastructure, a flurry of vivid pieces are laid out in spontaneous corners of the exhibition space such as towering cut-outs of colorful subjects and neon-based works. Mr.’s signature anime subjects portray children symbolically brandishing weapons are observed in the diverse batch of art objects. Not to mention, miniature to life-sized figures adorned in bright ensembles juxtaposed by military gear accentuates the show’s complex theme.
“This is a call to action. An artistic response to imagine a better planet. What kind of world do we want for our kids? Kids embodied hope. Kids show us the future,” said Pharrell in an Instagram caption promoting the show.
“Carte blanche to Mr. and Pharrell Williams: A Call To Action” is on view until September 23. Head to Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts’ website to learn more.
