The 1965 James Bond Aston Martin DB5, tagged as “the most famous car in the world,” is landing at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week in August. One of only three living models, the automative was contracted by Eon Productions for 1964’s Goldfinger starring Sean Connery, and is expected to go for $4 million USD to $6 million USD.
According to Sotheby’s, the Snow Shadow Gray DB5 will include the features Q stated in the movie, including front and rear hydraulic over-rider rams on the bumpers, a Browning .30 caliber machine gun in each fender, wheel-hub mounted tire-slashers, a bullet-proof screen, in-dash radar tracking scope, oil, caltrop and smoke screen dispensers, revolving license plates and a passenger-seat ejection system. The restored car will also be equipped with (despite not being shown in the film) a telephone in the driver’s door and a hidden compartment under the driver’s seat for weapon stashing.
The auction takes place this August 15-17 in Monterey, California and will include over 30 Aston Martin vehicles.
