Throughout 2019 Foot Locker and adidas will be partnering up to produce exclusive new versions of the AM4 silhouette, each drawing inspiration from one of four European cultural capitals. Back in May we saw the Berlin iteration, that tapped into the city’s history of overcoming barriers and tearing down walls. It was created using adidas’ revolutionary SPEEDFACTORY technology that can produce new products in a matter of weeks.

Next up is Milan, with the design coming courtesy of the Milanese art collective Otln Studio. A group of passionate, mixed-media artists and creatives, Otln Studio are based in the shadow of the iconic San Siro stadium, and its AM4 design reflects the studio’s experiences of growing up in the city.

“We love our city, its neighborhoods, history and people. It’s an honor and a dream to be able to design a shoe based on the city that inspires us daily as creators.” says Otln Studio, who star in the gallery above. The palette of the sneaker reflects the diverse environments found within Milan’s nine districts. “To tell the story of Milan by the design of a sneaker, we used three colors that represent key features of the city. Dark grey represents the hood we grew up in, off-white represents the historical Milan cathedral and a bright coral color is used in subtle details to point out Milan’s important relationship to fashion.”

Releasing on July 31 and limited to only 500 pairs, the sneaker will be available exclusively at Milan Foot Locker stores and on Foot Locker’s web store. Each product also comes with a special collector’s edition box, with an illustration depicting the Milan city map. Expect the next city release to be revealed soon.
