Reese Cooper Looks to the Postal Service for SS20 "How a Letter Travels" Lookbook

Reese Cooper’s Fall/Winter 2019 “Hitchhiking” collection came to life in a lookbook shot across California’s rugged roads, and now for Spring/Summer 2020, the designer continues his journey with American travel through more scenic visuals. Titling the new range “How a Letter Travels,” Cooper draws inspiration from the U.S. Postal Service to create the key graphics and prints throughout.
Utilitarian styles such as lightweight jackets, cargo pants and patchwork denim are prevalent, melding into the natural landscape with their earthy colors, like burnt red, dusky blue and brown. Technical materials are played up for versatility, while one of Cooper’s hand-painted camo designs makes up a custom fabric. The designer has also ensured to take a sustainable approach where possible, offering up a selection of knit tops that have been crafted from recycled paper and cotton. Meanwhile, direct references to the postal theme frequently come into the mix, with drawings of the Ojai California Post Office and embroidered postage stamps.
Cooper, who was recently named a finalist for the 2019 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund, caught up with HYPEBEAST in April for Streetsnaps, showing off a full look from his “Against the Wind” collection with Barneys.
