These Are the Best Fashion Schools From Around the World
Using a new students-first Badge of Excellence marking scheme.

The Business of Fashion has announced its global ranking of fashion schools for 2019, seeing a new Badge of Excellence scheme mark the world’s leading institutions.
Central Saint Martins is still one of the UK’s top performing school, featuring highly in the charts for undergraduate and graduate Fashion Design and Fashion Art Direction and Communications. Graduates of CSM include Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Kim Jones and John Galliano.
For the 2019 results, BoF collated the statistics with “the student at the heart of the process,” looking at four key areas: Best Overall, Best in Global Influence, Best in Learning Experience and Best in Long-Term Value. Notable mentions in the list include Kingston University, UK; Accademia Costume & Moda, Rome; De Monfort University, UK; The National Institute of Design, India and the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, which were each awarded numerous Badges of Excellence.
The panel of judges consisted of CSM’s Professor Emerita Jane Rapley, former editor-at-large of Vogue India Bandana Tewari and leading fashion creative headhunter Floriane de Saint Pierre. The panel’s decisions have resulted in a list that is meant to make a student understand which school best suits their personal criteria in pursuing a career in fashion.
The Business of Fashion founder Imran Amed said in a press release, “While there are some important factors when considering top-quality fashion education like the quality of teaching, access to good facilities and the dynamism and diversity of the student body, in the end, the answer depends on the student themselves.” The full results can be found on the Business of Fashion website.
