adidas Originals Modernizes Another Cult-Classic Sneaker, the Streetball
Updating 1993’s basketball sneaker with a bright colorway, low profile and retooled build.
Continuing its homage to ’90s-era sneaker design, adidas Originals revives the cult-classic Streetball with a modern reconstruction.
With recently-released models like the Ozweego, LXCON and others in mind, Originals updates 1993’s street-ready hoops sneaker with a bright colorway, low profile and retooled build. Painted in an almost tonal Solar Orange, Flash Orange and Core Black colorway, its multilayered and multi-material upper almost goes unnoticed. The Lightstrike cushioning is said to be very apparent however, as it’s touted to deliver “explosive, dynamic speed.” Other details include added padding and support around the achilles, a rubber outsole treaded for outdoor courts, a mixture of rough and smooth suede, leather, mesh and neoprene, and a ’90s “STREETBALL” tongue patch.
Having last seen this sneaker series in 2014 with the re-release of the Streetball 2 for $110 USD, 2019’s Streetball is currently available on adidas Canada’s webstore for $160 CAD (approximately $122 USD). Anyone else curious to see how it performs?
