After surfacing in a blacked-out makeup, John Geiger has prepared a new iteration of his 002 silhouette in time for the tail end of Mental Health Awareness Month. The footwear designer has realized his bespoke shoe in “Cream,” launching the model alongside a thematic short film.
“It’s important that I speak up with a platform to do so,” Geiger said in a statement. “I’ve realized with by being vocal about my personal battles that so many others go through the same daily. There’s no better way to tell my story and issues than in my designs and content around it.”
Retaining the same shape and textiles as past 002 models, Geiger’s latest sneaker is realized with pale beige uppers and the familiar sleek midsole, with contrasting red zig-zag stitching from the ankle to the toe. Black and white laces loop around the sneaker’s shaft, allowing for a customizable snug fit, with minimal panels reinforcing the shoe’s streamlined shape. Black pulltabs atop the ankle opening ensure the shoe is a cinch to pull on without the need to readjust the laces.
Geiger’s 002 “Cream” launches today, May 31, on the John Geiger website.
