Following a preview in T Magazine, Rihanna and LVMH are finally set to launch Fenty. Marking Rihanna’s artistic director debut, the debut collection is an exploration of the artist’s personal style, reimagined for the contemporary wardrobe.
Power shoulders and imposing trousers inform the confidence at the core of “Release 5-19,” the first seasonless offering from Fenty. Earthy tones and genderless styling appear throughout, reinforcing the label’s desire to upend womenswear conventions, simultaneously blending premium textiles and effortless cuts. A wide array of wardrobe staples are on hand, abetted by jewelry and accessories like eyewear and footwear.
Modeled by a diverse cast, Fenty’s premiere collection is packed with impactful garments. Timeless versatility and on-trend items co-mingle, like the deeply-pleated Japanese denim jeans styled beneath a puffy-sleeved bustier blouse. Blazers are nipped at the waist to reinforce an aggressive hourglass shape, cut long so as to be worn with or without billowing trousers. Matching waist bags and caps undercut the striking tailoring with sporty flair, while boxy tees and multi-pocketed overshirts make for advanced base layers.
Chunky jewelry includes crystal-studded and looped earrings, a natural complement to the sleek eyewear, which ranges from sleek cut-out stylings to oversized visors that wrap around the face. Strappy heels bolster the confident motif at the heart of Fenty, offered in a few different makeups but consistent in their height and versatile colors.
Rihanna’s debut Fenty offering launches May 29 via the Fenty website, with experiential physical events soon to come. Below, watch interviews with Rihanna and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing, along with videos inside the FENTY launch event in Paris.
Most recently, LVMH claimed its top spot as the world’s leading luxury imprint.
