Vivienne Westwood Debuts Archive-Inspired ASICS Collaboration

Following a teaser released earlier this year and a recent look at a joint GEL-Saga silhouette, Vivienne Westwood and ASICS have now officially debuted the first release from their collaboration. The capsule features two silhouettes, the GEL-KAYANO 5 OG and the GEL-MAI Knit.

For the GEL-MAI, Vivienne Westwood has revisited the archive “Squiggle” print, that first made its debut in her Fall/Winter 1981 collection. The sneaker comes in the same red and white colorway as that original pattern, with an intarsia-knitted flexible sock and a white external structure. The sneaker is then finished the the iconic Vivienne Westwood orb logo embroidered on its heel.

The “Squiggle” print is also a reference point for the GEL-KAYANO 5 OG, which comes in red and orange color palette once used on the archive pattern. The print also appears throughout the sneaker’s lining, while multi-colored Vivienne Westwood branding appears on the back of the shoe.

Both styles will release via the Vivienne Westwood and ASICS web stores on April 27. The GEL-KAYANO 5 OG will be priced at £155 GBP/$180 USD while the GEL-MAI KNIT will retail for £185 GBP/$190 USD.
