Pyer Moss Releases Sentimental Short Film 'Seven Mothers'
A semi-autobiographical tribute.
New York-based label Pyer Moss continues to illustrate the Black American experience in its latest short film Seven Mothers. Kerby Jean-Raymond enlisted the help of Director X, recognised for his creative influence within hip-hop, to produce the 8-minute film.
The film is a semi-autobiographical tribute to the seven women who raised Jean-Raymond after his mother’s unfortunate death. The sentimental film focuses on the stipulations of a young boy grieving his mother, exploring themes of love and strength. The short film was styled by Eric Mcneal, as characters were all seen wearing Pyer Moss pieces throughout.
Despite being a Toronto-native, Director X’s past in Brooklyn helped bring Jean-Raymond’s vision to life as they were able to exchange nostalgic stories about the neighborhood. At the premiere on April 11, Jean-Raymond mentioned the film was his first real step towards closure around the passing of his mother’s death.
Pyer Moss Collection 2 is officially available to the public as of today, with a pop-up shop in New York City. The Experiment 3 is also now available from select retailers and online at PyerMoss.com and Reebok.com.
