Celebrated Antwerp-based fashion designer, Dries Van Noten, unveiled a new three-day exhibition at Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. Tapping into his love for art curation, the Belgian illustrates a dialogue among art pieces from various eras and origins.

Celebrating 10 years in Aoyama, Van Noten will exhibit his personal collection while enlisting three more artists to interpret two 17th century Gerard de Lairesse paintings. When the designer first opened his store in Aoyama, he commissioned two Japanese artists to ‘interpret’ the pieces of art. Finding a medium to juxtapose the baroque works which point to his Flemish origin.

As part of the latest exhibition, Masaho Anotani communicates the cycle of life and death and two sides of the same coin in two paintings. Ataru Sato imagines the continuation of the story of Achilles in four parts using different mediums. While a couple of blood-coloured paintings by Naho Ishii focus on the historic side of a Greek odyssey.

Tour the exhibition above and the show is open to the public this weekend from April 6 to 7.
