Aimé Leon Dore Debuts Colorful New Balance 997 Collaboration
The bespoke sneaker is launching very soon.
First teased with last month’s retro-inspired ad, Aimé Leon Dore has finally announced the release date for its collaborative New Balance 997. Two colorful twists on the classic running sneaker will launch this week, updating the classic runner with a contemporary feel.
Like Aimé Leon Dore’s color-packed Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the collaborative New Balances offer brightly-hued panels that draw inspiration from vintage sportswear. A trio of tennis balls seen in the faux advertisement emphasize the athletic influence, with colors that underline the premium construction of the American-made running shoes.
Both iterations feature predominantly muted uppers, with grey, beige and desaturated green suede informing the “N” branding, midfoot, outsole and toebox. Towards the rear, the sneakers boast brighter color, with one variant sporting a blend of yellow. blue and pink, and the other offering shades of blue and purple. Tumbled leather informs the tongues, which retain the usual NB branding, complementing the soft leather sockliners.
Both head-turning colorways of the New Balance 997 launch April 12 at Aimé Leon Dore’s web store and New York outpost at 11 AM EST.
Elsewhere, mita sneakers and WHIZ LIMITED reunited for a playful remake of the New Balance 574 v2.
