urself SS19 Exemplifies Japanese Streetwear Styling
Loose, unbranded shirts and baggy cropped pants.

NAME. director Seima Matsuzaka launched urself in 2018 as a minimalist, direct-to-consumer streetwear label, a relatively new concept in Japan (the brand also has works with select stockists). For Spring/Summer 2019, Matsuzaka delivers another understated array of premium shirts and pants, intended to create an effortless capsule wardrobe.
Baggy shirts and cropped pants inform the majority of the looks, blending elements of skate clothes with the high quality and louche styling of Japanese streetwear. T-shirts and sweaters sport boxy cuts and dropped shoulders for a proper baggy fit, occasionally bolstered by chest pockets and muted graphics. A cropped Harrington-style jacket makes for a versatile lightweight layer, while branded leather slippers, single-tone caps, leather shoelace belts and thick sunglasses reinforce the loungey motif.
Get a feel for the brand’s ethos on urself’s website and expect the new items to hit the web store shortly.
Elsewhere in Japan, WTAPS premiered its Mill (UNIFORMS) diffusion line.
