The Broad Brings 'Soul of a Nation' Exhibition to West Coast
Exploring the work of black artists made over two decades.
The Broad Museum in Los Angeles will present the West Coast debut of the acclaimed Soul of a Nation: Art In The Age of Black Power 1963-1983 exhibition. The show highlights the work of black artists created over two decades, beginning at the height of the civil rights movement in 1963. In addition to over 60 artists, the show includes three galleries focused on the work of key black artists in the respective 20 year period.
On the exhibition’s opening day, The Broad will host a series of conversations, artist talks and poetry featuring artists in the exhibition, such as Jae and Wadsworth Jarrell and Gerald Williams. The Broad, which opened in 2015, has previously hosted Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors exhibition. Other artists currently on view include Jean-Michel Basquiat and Roy Lichtenstein.
The exhibition will run from March 23 until September 1 and tickets can be purchased at The Broad website.
