NOAH links with New York-based filmmaker Nicolas Heller to honor a true downtown legend: Patrick Barr, better known as Tiger Hood. Known for his twin loves of street golf and photography, Tiger Hood’s legacy is cemented with a pair of playful graphic T-shirts.
Heller’s recent documentary, Neighborhood Golf Association, spotlights Tiger Hood’s decade on the streets of New York. Hood has collected thousands of shot-on-film images of NYC in the ’90s and ’00s, preserving the memory of a city lost to time. The documentary walks viewers through a day in Hood’s life, simultaneously showcasing his photo archive and how Hood and Heller first met.
“The thing I appreciate about NY Nico is the fact that he’s championing the personalities that make NY special,” NOAH’s Brendon Babenzien reflected. “Nick takes the time to appreciate these stories and that is very much needed today. Tiger Hood is one of those stories.” The limited edition T-shirts, featuring a print designed by artist Bill Rebholz, will be available in dark navy or white, so as to emphasize the lighthearted, Hood-centric graphics.
Both shirts will be available for $48 USD on March 2 at New York’s Project Farmhouse, where NOAH and Heller will host a screening of Neighborhood Golf Association. They’ll also be releasing on March 7, Thursday via NOAH’s website. 15% of the shirts’ proceeds will be donated to the Henry Street Settlement and the rest will benefit Tiger Hood himself. Recently, NOAH dropped a selection of seasonal floral gear.
