Watch the First Trailer for Guillermo del Toro's 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark'
Meet your monsters.
The first trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has finally arrived. Directed by André Øvredal and produced by Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro, the upcoming film is based on Alvin Schwartz’s children’s horror book trilogy published between 1981 and 1991.
The trailer introduces us to the big screen adaptation’s main cast, notably Zoe Colletti and Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris, who play father and daughter Stella and Roy Nicholls. A number of demented figures can be seen throughout the eerily calm trailer, including The Pale Lady from “The Dream” in Scary Stories 3 AND Big Toe from “The Big Toe” in Scary Stories 1.
The upcoming film is set in the small American town of Mill Valley in 1968, where a group of teenagers uncover a book in the infamous Bellows family mansion. Written by a young girl named Sarah, she transformed her tortured life into scary stories that turn out to be more than just reading material.
Watch the official trailer above. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark hits theaters August 9.
