Seiko is bringing back its functional Alpinist watch exclusively to the U.S. market. Originally introduced in the late ’50s, this modern take on the exploration watch sees a 39.5mm stainless steel case matched with a matte-blue dial.

Powered by Seiko’s 6R15 movement, the watch has a power reserve of 50 hours, and has a water-resistance level of 200 meters. One of the trademark functions was also left intact as the outer edge track on the dial is actually a working compass. Other details include squelette-style hands, caseback engraving, a blue-leather strap, and a stamped crown.

Limited to 1959 pieces (the year of its introduction) this Seiko Alpinist packs in a lot of value coming in at $600 USD. Those interested can head on over to Hodinkee’s web store for further information.
