Vetements Revisits Your Favorite Childhood Classics With Cartoon-Print Shirt for SS20
Referencing ‘SpongeBob SquarePants,’ ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Betty Boop’ and many more.
Vetements has released one of its most eclectic offerings to date in the form of a Cartoon-Print Brushed Cotton Shirt for Spring/Summer 2020.
The Demna Gvaslia-designed piece is one of the co-founders’ last pieces made for the brand, and in true Vetements tradition, taps a number of critical references for a playful take on fashion. In this multicolored piece, wearers will find nods to SpongeBob SquarePants — alongside Patrick, Plankton and Squidward — as well as Lisa and Bart Simpson, Johnny Bravo, Shrek, Betty Boop, Dennis the Menace and Gnasher, and Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.
Plenty more characters join this bold Vetements ensemble, which takes the traditional cartoons and various references from the ’90s and early 2000s and gives them somewhat of hyper-realistic reenvisioning. Aside from its garish design, Vetements has added a row of clear buttons down the middle, a pointed collar and a wide drop-shoulder fit. Rounding out this shirt is capitalized Vetements branding embroidered onto the chest pocket in black.
