Tekashi 6ix9ine Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
The rapper also received 300 community service hours and a $35,000 USD fine.
Thanks primarily to the rapper’s extensive testimony, Tekashi 6ix9ine has received a fairly light prison sentence, reports Inner City Press. On December 18, Federal Judge Paul Engelmayer sentenced the Dummy Boy rapper to 24 months in prison, 300 community service hours and a $35,000 USD fine.
6ix9ine, born Daniel Hernandez, was arrested in November 2018 along with fellow Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members on charges of racketeering and firearms. Prosecutors asserted that the rapper and his associates participated in said exploits “for the purpose of gaining entrance to and maintaining and increasing position in (gang) Nine,” as court documents reveal.
Before his arrest, 6ix9ine had already begun providing law enforcement with intimate information about his gang the night prior to his arrest, later publicly distancing himself from the Nine Trey Bloods. In court, the rapper confirmed that he was associated with Nine Trey and pleaded guilty to armed robbery and drug trafficking.
In September 2019, Tekashi testified against several of his Nine Trey peers, later claiming in court that rapper Jim Jones was also a member of the gang and asserting that that Cardi B was a member of the Bloods.

“There is a great deal to be admired” about 6ix9ine, asserted Judge Engelmayer at the end of the sentencing, acknowledging that the rapper has already served 13 of his 24 sentenced months. As such, 6ix9ine is expected to be freed from jail in late 2020.
In other legal proceedings, the FBI has begun to bring charges against the man who operated several illegal streaming sites.
