TEALEAVES and Pantone Craft 'Classic Blue' Tea to Celebrate Color of the Year
The cool-hued drink imagines the flavor of the winning shade.

In celebration of Pantone‘s recent color of the year announcement, luxury tea company TEALEAVES and Pantone collaborated to create the Pantone Color of the Year 2020 Tea Blend. When hot water is added to the blend, the liquid takes on a color that replicates PANTONE® 19-4052 Classic Blue, the upcoming Color of the Year. The collaboration adds a refreshing multi-sensory experience to the sea of timely product collaborations already taking on the trending hue.
TEALEAVES was tasked with not only replicating Classic Blue’s hue, but also its aroma and taste, which required its team to consider the emotions behind the color. “Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE® 19-4052, Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.”
The result of this emotional digging and tea blending led to a tea that features notes of deep berry and subtle citrus. Its custom aroma and taste combined with its blue coloring are meant to evoke a sense of wellbeing and self-care. “We created a tranquil herbal blend which speaks to well-being and connection,” says TEALEAVES Co-Founder and CEO Lana Sutherland. “After countless hours spent blending, we are tremendously pleased with the result.”
The Pantone Color of the Year 2020 tea blend is currently available to purchase for $6 USD for five cups or $22 USD for 25 cups over on TEALEAVES’s website.
