The AM90 Lahar is set to release in two colorways — “Light Cream/Alligator” and “White/Natural Indigo” — which although don’t pay homage to the original boot, do feature a number of design cues inspired by it. One of the most notable additions to the AM90 is the “Lahar” tongue patch, which is offered up in the same military-indebted stencil font found on the original boot, which wore the word “ESCAPE” proudly on its tongue.
Even smaller details come in the form of the shoes’ laces. The tonal offerings are speckled, just like the originals’ pair, once more nodding to a utilitarian heritage. Nike has used premium qualities on these Air Max 90 NRGs, with buttery-smooth, lightly-cracked leather encompassing the mid-panel, soft leather adorning the toe box, vamp and side-panels, and a final touch of mesh for the tongue.
As per the archetype AM90 design, Air Max branding has been added to the lateral rear-quarter while the heel tab sports the OG Nike Air logo. Take a look at the Nike Air Max 90 NRG Lahar in “Light Cream/Alligator” and “White/Natural Indigo” in the gallery above, and pick up both pairs via Sneakersnstuff on December 19 for £129 GBP each (approx. $172 USD).
