First 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' Trailer Sees the Ecto-1 Back in Action
The film stars Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace and OG cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.
Ghostbusters fans have been waiting patiently to get their first real look at the forthcoming revamp. After a teaser was shared in January, followed by a few casting confirmations, Sony Pictures has finally dropped the first full-trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
The upcoming sequel will take place in the same universe as the two OG films, not the universe of Paul Feig’s 2016 female-led reboot, and will see original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson reprising their roles alongside Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver. Fargo‘s Carrie Coon will play a single mother named Callie, while McKenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home) plays her daughter Phoebe and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) plays her son Trevor. Additionally Ant-Man‘s Paul Rudd joins the cast as Mr. Grooberson, a science teacher that befriends the two kids.
The official synopsis for the new film reads:
“From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.”
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to debut in theaters on July 10, 2020.
In more entertainment news, Ryan Reynolds is a non-playable character in Free Guy.
