Fans have been patiently waiting for more details to surface regarding Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming film Tenet, and now the very first teaser trailer has found its way online.

Known to be a man of secrets, Nolan sneaked in Tenet‘s teaser trailer ahead of select screenings of the summer blockbuster Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. However, unfortunately Warner Bros. has yet to officially share the clip.

The cryptic clip one-minute trailer features John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) inspecting a series of bullet holes littered through reinforced glass. It also looks as if time will be manipulated in the film as the clips of him are then seemingly played backwards. Things then quickly escalate as the appearance of a riot squad, alongside what appears to be a fist fight and Washington’s character emerging into the light whilst restrained and wearing an oxygen mask is also showcased.

Interjected within the visuals of Washington are title cards with the sayings “Time has come for a new kind of protagonist” and “Time has come for a new kind of mission.” The trailer also features score work by Ludwig Göransson, the Oscar-winning composer behind the Black Panther soundtrack. IMDB itemizing describes the movie as “an action epic revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution.”

Tenet will be the eleventh offering from Nolan, who last graced cinephiles with Dunkirk. Along with Washington, the film will also star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Robert Pattinson, Himesh Patel, Dimple Kapadia, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, and Elizabeth Debicki.

Look for Tenet to land in theaters July 17, 2020.

On the film Pattinson shared with USA Today that he was “locked in a room” without being given a personal copy of the script. “I’ve been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years, but there’s just something about Chris Nolan’s stuff,” he said. “He seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale.”

In more entertainment news, Netflix loses upwards of $1.5B USD a year on password sharing.
