Nike & Virgil Abloh Announce Vapor Street Release With Second "Athlete In Progress" Collection
A full collection of apparel and footwear releasing later this month.
Nike and Virgil Abloh have continued their longstanding partnership with the unveiling of the second installment of the women’s “Athlete In Progress” collection. The new capsule follows on from a release earlier this year, which included the Off-White™ x Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 5 and was launched with a campaign featuring Caster Semenya.
For the second capsule in the collection, Nike and Abloh have worked with World Champion 200-meter sprinter Dina Asher-Smith to model the range. The athletic-influenced collection sees a number of pieces in yellow, including track tops and running leggings. Elsewhere, the capsule features lightweight outerwear, a tonal black technical vest-meets-backpack and pieces in a yellow, black and white tie-dye effect.
Additionally, the latest “Athlete In Progress” capsule sees the introduction of three Off-White™ x Nike Vapor Street colorways, which were first teased during Off-White™’s Spring/Summer 2019 before getting a closer look earlier this year. The sneaker features a translucent overlay with textile underlays, React foam cushioning system and a range of signature Virgil Abloh design touches. The three colorways set to drop are “Black/White/Black/Laser Fuchsia,” “Polarized Blue/Tour Yellow” and “Tour Yellow/Black/Light Bone.”
Launching the collection, Abloh explained the origins of the project: “I started talking with Nike about this women’s running project last summer and at the time, I was very much inspired by the aesthetic and style of track and field athletes. As a result, I invited some of Nike’s elite track and field champions to participate in my SS19 Off-White runway show as the natural forerunner to developing and showcasing the collection.”
The second installment of the “Athlete In Progress” collection — including the Off-White™ x Nike Vapor Street — is set to arrive at select stockists and the Nike web store on November 14.
In other Nike news, the brand has recently revealed the all-new React Infinity Run.
