As Barneys enters liquidation following its $271 million USD sale to Authentic Brands, reports are noting that the iconic luxury department store’s restaurant Freds will remain open.

Despite the licensing firm’s plans to close all seven remaining stores and license the “Barneys” name Saks Fifth Avenue for a series of satellite boutiques, Freds will continue to serve the customer base it has amassed since 1996. Freds will be part of the transformation of the Madison Avenue Barneys flagship into a “venue for temporary art exhibits and other, non-Barneys-related ‘experiential’ events” before its eventual closing come February 2020.

Stay tuned for more details.
