SYNDRO Drops 'Fight Club'-Inspired FW19 Collection
“Project Mayhem” takes cues from Tyler Durden’s wardrobe.

Taiwan-based label SYNDRO launched in 2013 after its founder, Shinway, took a learned interest in vintage menswear, updating the timeless essentials with a youthful bent. Fall/Winter 2019 “Project Mayhem” sees the brand taking cues from cult classic Fight Club, transforming the wardrobe of Edward Norton’s anonymous narrator and his alter-ego Tyler Durden (famously portrayed by Brad Pitt) into a series of menswear-indebted layering pieces ideal for the cooler temperatures.
Direct influence inspires stadium jackets branded with quotes from the movie (“I want you to hit me as hard as you can.”) and a louche suede coverall, a reimagining of Durden’s iconic red leather jacket. Elsewhere, Norton’s battered suits are updated into trim blazers and tailored slacks, styling the grey wool layers with slim ties for a contemporary touch. Slim selvedge denim, safari jackets and military-inspired overshirts and cargo pants are all indebted to Durden’s utilitarian style, while denim tuxedo shirts and ripstop pouches are a fanciful take on items one could imagine finding in the characters’ shared wardrobe.
