Octavian & Courtney MC Move Into Fashion With New ROCKO & RIOT Label
Releasing exclusively via a pop-up shop in London this weekend.
London-based rapper Octavian and visual artist Courtney MC have announced the launch of their collaborative fashion label, ROCKO & RIOT.
The duo have a longstanding relationship having previously worked together on Octavian’s Endorphins mixtape, and at a previous art residency in Paris. Together, the pair have developed a line of unisex clothing that ranges from casual pieces such as screen-printed double-heavy jersey hoodies to meticulously patch-worked silk shirts.
ROCKO & RIOT draws its name from the two’s alter egos — Octavian as Rocko Smiles, the thrill-seeking “dark shadow” of the rapper, and Riot, who is “a more unforgiving, extreme version of Courtney MC’s self.” Additionally, Courtney MC’s psychedelic paintings are featured on garments including T-shirts, hoodies, denim, silk Hawaiian shirts and scarves.
Vintage silk Hawaiian shirts form the backbone of the inaugural collection. They were hand-sourced by Courtney MC and reconstructed with hand-applied patchworks, each of which building upon the samples given to Octavian for his Summer 2019 tour.
The debut collection by ROCKO & RIOT will release exclusively at a pop-up shop in Shoreditch, East London on October 5th. It will launch the following day, October 6, at 1 PM GMT online.
