Rare KAWS Artworks Lead Artcurial's "Outsider(s)" Auction
Alongside original works by Ryan McGinley, Raymond Pettibon and more.
Paris-based auction house Artcurial will soon launch a momentous sale of rare, original artworks by KAWS and the acclaimed DIY artists from the legendary “Beautiful Losers” 2004 exhibition such as Barry McGee, Ryan McGinley, among others. Altogether, the “Outsider(s)” contemporary art auction will encompass over 200 diverse lots spanning paintings, vinyl figures, skate decks, and more limited collectibles.
Leading the sale is KAWS’ ‘Untitled’ (2003) acrylic on photograph piece portraying his Companion riding inside a car bearing the Louis Vuitton monogram — this piece is estimated to sell for upwards of $88,000 USD. Other highlights include McGinley’s ‘Tree #3’ (2003) c-print with a pre-sale estimate of over $25,000 USD as well as hand-painted Nike sneakers by Raymond Pettibon estimated to sell for over $6,000 USD.
