Earl Sweatshirt Unveils 'Nowhere, Nobody' Short Film & Announces 2019 U.S. Tour
The newly-independent rapper is hitting the road.
Fresh off his departure from Columbia Records, Earl Sweatshirt reveals plans for his next major tour and serves up a new short film in support of his latest studio album, Some Rap Songs.
Earl Sweatshirt’s upcoming live trek will take him to multiple markets across the United States, as well as London’s Field Day Festival. The “FIRE IT UP!” tour will begin on March 23 in New Orleans and is scheduled to conclude on May 6 in Atlanta. Besides the newly-independent lyricist, the aforementioned shows will also feature performances by Bbymutha, Na-Kel Smith, MIKE, Liv.e and Black Noi$e.
Further supporting his forthcoming tour and his most recent LP, Earl Sweatshirt links up with directors Naima Ramos-Chapman and Terence Nance, producer Briana Gonzales and editor Kristan Sprague for the Nowhere, Nobody short film. Notably, Nowhere, Nobody uses the music of Some Rap Songs as its soundtrack.
“I’m trying to communicate myself using sacred theme music for my soul and for people’s souls,” Earl Sweatshirt recently told Pitchfork, explaining his current motivations. “I’m trying to submit this as my contribution to the tapestry. I spent time making sure that it stands out but still fits into something that’s bigger than me.”
