Marine Serre Debuted Menswear for SS19
More skewed sportswear and even a Converse collaboration.

Since scooping last year’s LVMH prize, Marine Serre has wasted no time establishing her brand as one to watch. Each season, the 26-year-old designer reworks sportswear staples and her Sailor Moon-leaning logo into trim, color-drenched layers. For Spring/Summer 2019, dubbed “Hard Couture,” Serre elevated her designs yet again, adding men’s and kid’s clothing to her seasonal lineup.
Along with the signature Serre bodysuits, tights and jet caps, the designer debuted velcro-strapped jumpsuits and padded, short-sleeved shirt-jackets, drawing influence from uniforms worn by race car drivers and mechanics alike. This yielded bicycle shorts — a Serre favorite — gradient tracksuits, multi-pocketed chore jackets with disjointed seams and a host of sporty branding. Serre’s designs translated naturally to menswear, yielding all-over logo-printed jeans, plush floral-printed layers and a translucent pale pink parka, complemented by a matching bag, Along with Nike Air Max Plus, men wore pointy boots and a collaborative Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star, stripped of laces and emblazoned with Sere’s moon logo.
