Anwar Carrots & K-Swiss Aim to Bring the SI-18 Back to Its Former Glory

Officially the third sneaker from the K-Swiss/Anwar Carrots co-operative, the duo keeps their collaborative momentum on the upswing, this time choosing to rework the heritage SI-18 silhouette. Deemed “Shoe of the Year” in 1992, the SI-18 struck a chord with tennis aficionados throughout the ‘90s, which the streetwear figurehead wanted to honor, while also tapping into the shoe’s simplistic lifestyle potential.
Anwar chose to keep the silhouette’s defining technical specs intact, however, opted to reinvent the exterior with full-grain tumbled leather. As far as creative detailing goes, metallic gold ringlets immediately catch the eye from the lacing system, with sparse touches of Carrots-style orange and navy peeking out here and there. Moreover, the Grand Slam flag details found on the original have been swapped out for those representing the US Virgin Islands, Nigeria, United States, and Japan — a personalized collective of nations that honor the birthplaces of his father, grandmother, mother and himself. The collaborative K-Swiss SI-18’s will retail for a price of $110 USD and will make their way to select Foot Locker locations and K-Swiss’s online shop.
