Facebook is now testing an upcoming dating feature internally, reports say. The new rollout, however, will not be available as a standalone app but as a special section within the social media platform’s main app. Testing right now is being utilized by Facebook employees.
Furthermore, FB’s newest venture into online dating looks to be more for finding serious relationships rather than just quick flings. Those who participate can activate the feature where only others who’ve turned on the feature like yourself can see you. More importantly, users can now choose from five different genders – woman, trans woman, man, trans man and non-binary people. See below:
Participants will also unlock groups or events within Facebook Dating to encourage a more social atmosphere. There’s no swiping involved either, users can just simply text each other over FB’s Messenger or on WhatsApp. Matches are also based on information FB has gathered on individuals. Finally, only members who are the age of 18 or over can use the Facebook Dating.
If you haven’t heard yet, Facebook and Instagram now have a tool to self-limit your time on their platforms.
