The longstanding silence from producer DJ Mustard was broken today as the Los Angeles native took to Twitter to call the summer 2014 hit “Fancy” and 2015’s summer tune “Classic Man” both ripoffs. Mustard has had a slew of beat impersonations spreading over the airwaves in the last few years, starting with the 2 Chainz hit “I’m Different” and Tyga’s infectious “Rack City.” However, alleged lawsuits have been taken against the producers behind “Fancy” and “Classic Man” that have motivated Mustard to speak up, calling the two songs more likely stolen intellectual property instead of that of the supposed plaintiffs. To further complicate matters, Iggy Azalea stated in July that “Classic Man” sampled “Fancy,” which was denied this week. Stay tuned for more on this as it develops.
